A Panicked GUI Girl never wants to face a black screen with cryptic white text on her Linux laptop, especially when powering off and on makes no difference. It’s scary when a hard boot doesn’t boot. My problem turned out to be a corrupted file system. Yikes! Following my moments of terror and the doubtful solace of a chocolate bar, I got help on the Linux forums. Complete with links to screenshots, here’s how I restored sanity to my digital life.

Trust and surrender are essential qualities in this situation. I typed what I was told to type despite the fact that I had no clue what I was doing. The surrender part was easy enough since my situation really couldn’t get any worse. I’m fully restored now and would be ready for action if it weren’t already time for bed.
