I blogged on WordPress for about a year, but got no followers. In my first month on Medium, I not only got followers, but I actually earned one penny. I was thrilled because it meant someone "heard my voice" and that's fulfilling. I speak my mind and share my heart with no claim to knowing ANYTHING that must be proven.
I don't present FACTS, only OPINIONS. Whether you agree or not, I truly appreciate your reading time. I write what interests me. These include: Catholic spirituality psychology, creativity, addiction recovery, technology and books. Not being a true blogger, I've little interest in a niche and zero desire to deal with images. I don't want to waste time with them, and copyright issues are a royal pain! I pay for a Canva subscription so I can use their images when I submit to publications. Using images that are nothing more than quotes on a plain background, or writing short form pieces requiring no images at all is simpler, therefore, far more appealing I've written articles about creativity and weight loss , but the majority of my articles since 2022 have been about chess and Catholic spirituality. I kept hitting the 3-article per year limit. Subscribing as a reader was my only plan at first. You can choose the topics you're interested in. If you don't enjoy what you see in your feed, you can go to the profiles of your favourite authors or to the pages of your favourite publications and read what you find there. You can clap, highlight, and comment on articles, or simply read them. As a Medium member, a portion of your membership fee supports the writers whose articles you read to the end. If you encountered one of my articles through a Google search and enjoyed it, I encourage you to consider subscribing. As with many other platforms, the annual plan is cheaper. Why not start with $5 USD for a couple of months? I read Medium articles during my spare moments. Even better, you can listen to them while doing other tasks.
