BLINKIST — Book in a Blink

BLINKIST — Psychological Types by C. G. Jung

What it’s about

Psychological Types (1921) presents a groundbreaking theory of human personality and cognition, exploring the concepts of introversion and extraversion alongside four cognitive functions — thinking, feeling, sensation, and intuition. It offers a comprehensive framework for understanding individual differences in how people perceive the world and make decisions.

Target Audience

While Jung’s ideas eventually gained broader popularity and influence, the original text of “Psychological Types” was clearly targeted at an audience of fellow psychologists, researchers, and academics in related fields who could engage with its complex ideas and professional implications. — Perplexity AI

In this book, Jung talks about the personal and collective subconscious, but what captured my interest was his description of psychological types. I’ve been fascinated by personality category systems since I came across Linda Goodman’s Sun Signs when I was 13. My next encounter was with the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator when my first husband and I started seeing a marriage counselling therapist.
