I don't see myself entirely in any of these three categories.

I'm not the arts type entirely. I write what interests me in the sense that I don't limit myself to a niche. My articles are intended to give the reader inspiration, instruction or amusement. I care about reaching people, but not about the money.

I'm not the hopeful type exactly. I don't follow all the rules or have much expectation. I was totally amazed when an editor approached me after my first month on Medium. I was floored when my follower count reached 20 after only three weeks and delighted with my first month earnings of $0.01, more than I ever earned from writing before joining Medium.

I aspire to be the "process type" who writes most days and has something publishable at least three times per week or even 10 per month. If I'm not inspired to write, I spend plenty of time reading and responding to Medium articles. I plan to start tweeting articles, both mine and others.

The main reason I'm not interested in an email list is because it's hard enough to create something to publish on Medium as often as I'd like. I don't need or want the pressure of having to write a newsletter too. The second reason is that I don't care about marketing my writing.
