I just finished reading Pride and Prejudice for at least the 5th time. Mrs. Bennett is a complete idiot. There are other women in the book with infinitely more common sense and emotional stability. I could envision any of them carrying off the same challenge with grace, charm and effectiveness.

On a side note, Mr. Bennett is lazy and negligent when it comes to raising his daughters.
