I read a book by Caroline Myss about discerning which of many archetypes we have in our personalities. It's called Sacred Controact. -- Have you heard of Decode Chess as a substitute for the engine?
Any engine could show me blunders. Maybe I should just focus on those for now. I struggle with perfectionism. :) I've no interest in tournaments, competitions or ratings. I just want to learn and get better. I like what you said about paying attention to patterns.
Is analyzing games much use for an 800-player who doesn't know what she's supposed to think about? Here's an example of a game I annotated before I knew about engines. Is this taking analysis too far?
