I recall hearing in a Weight Watchers meeting that clutter can cause you to gain weight. It made sense. Clutter overwhelms you so you procrastinate and what better way to do that than to eat a bowl (or three) of ice cream?

I do fairly well with physical clutter but digital clutter is another story. I subscribe to email lists to get the "goodies" then I file them in their designated folders. After a few months it dawns on me that if I've not read them yet, I never will. So I delete the emails though I may not always unsubscribe. I have other digital clutter too, but email's the worst.

When I clean up my clutter, I make sure to do it early in the day because it gives me a burst of energy. It's like a psychic weight is lifted. It makes me wonder how much clutter has a negative impact on creativity and my ability to meditate.
