I remember a time in my career at Statistics Canada when my incredibly supportive supervisor was strongly encouraging me to apply for a competition soon to come out so I could move to the next level. So I started gathering the study materials. Canadian federal government competitions are NOT for the faint of heart!

When I got the email that the competition was open, I felt nauseous. By that time in my life, I was in tune with my body and intuitive about its messages. I was happy doing the job I had and did NOT want to go through the competition process to get a job I wasn’t interested in. The fact that I didn’t bother looking at the study materials told the story. When I gathered them up and gave them to my colleague, I felt like I dropped a 10 pound weight from my psychic knapsack!

Money and status are worthless if the daily work and responsibilities will either make you miserable or take you away from what you currently enjoy doing.
