I tried to clap for your article but that feature seems to only work for some stories and not others.
I've been studying chess more than playing for a little over a year. I never play rated games, nor do I track how much time I spend in each of the chess activities I do. I'm more a hobbyist than an improver.
I'm blessed to be able to play OTB games with my friend one afternoon each week. We record our games and I enter them in a Lichess study. I've not analyzed them yet since I don't feel I know enough what to look for. I also play daily games on chess.com.
I listened to an episode of Chess Journeys where the guest JJ Lang suggested thematic puzzles. I found a great site for this called Chess Puzzle Academy which I wrote an article about on Medium. I've also used an app that focused entirely on 1-move mate puzzles.
When I watch YT videos, I often re-watch and take notes. I haven't spent much time yet on reviewing master annotated games. That's my next step.
Have you thought about coaching players under 1000? You'd be really good at it.
