I've always been a gentle type. When I was 19, a friend of my mother's mentioned to her that I was the most gentle person she'd ever met. I've got a relatively passive temperament and I'm very clear about the difference between what I do and do NOT have control over.

During recovery from a knee injury, I made sure my husband knew I was grateful. Knowing each other's love language makes a huge difference. Because of a life-long vision disability, I learned early to accept help and had no problem receiving it. God made us to need each other, not to be independent islands.

I too want to be someone that's easy to care for--someone for whom it is even a pleasure to help and provide care for. When the worst happens, I hope I will deal effectively with any inevitable anger without letting it affect anyone but me.
