I've always been counter-cultural. What the culture says is important, I rarely see as a priority. I do what is right for me, and I do it quietly. I talk very little about myself and my ideas. No one wants to know my opinions and I feel no need to share them.

We know what works for us, what we need, and what we most value. At least some people do. If we are not in touch with our inner selves, if we don't know our souls, then we'll allow to culture to dictate to us. Even when we do know ourselves, but lack inner "security", for lack of a better word, the culture will be the loudest voice--and not the best or wisest one.
