Fed Up With Facebook? Ticked-Off By Twitter?

Mimic with Medium

Thank goodness that we have alternative options besides FB, although I am fairly new to Medium and am trying to fine my way to do things that I can do on FB. I would welcome any useful advice on this. — Alan J Munday in Being Blocked by Facebook for the umpteenth time in days !

It wasn’t writing my own stuff that gained me followers, it was responding to other people’s stories. In Medium, what you write is either a “response” or a “story”. A Medium story is usually non-fiction despite the name “story”. I’m still not used to that terminology! I’ve written 147 “stories” and over 1270 responses since I joined in August 2020 and I now have 580 followers. Usually I’d just write a comment in the space provided below the article.

At least once, I’ve taken several stories and commented on all of them in a single “story” instead of writing an individual response to each one. I found it so much easier to react to other people’s stuff than to create my own. Maybe laziness; maybe lack of confidence. I’m not sure. It’s one way to deal with “bloggers block”.

Quote something they wrote.
