My reflections on J.J. Pryor’s list of 100 Personal Thoughts About the Medium Life
I thoroughly enjoyed this article. Each of JJ’s thoughts I put in quotes and indicated a couple of broken links. I followed each by my own comments.
8. I’m tired of posting my articles on Facebook for 4 views. But occasionally I’ll get 40 so I keep doing it.
I did this in the beginning, but realized that my limited time was best spent on writing articles (156) and responses (over 1,350).
15. I’m happier on days I forget to check my stats.
I’m happier on the days I don’t get on the scale! Seriously though, I only glance at my stats that show up in my inbox every Friday. I also don’t care about my chess rating. I just enjoy studying and playing. There are far too numbers in our lives.
33. But, I often skip long-form content as a reader because I have the attention span of a pregnant mosquito at a blood bank.
I have to be especially interested in the topic to read a longer article. I much prefer to write shorter articles that don’t require in-depth research and citation. I’m a lazy writer and prefer to share my reflections, opinions and experience. Short-form is ideal for the Medium enthusiast waiting in the checkout line.
41. More importantly, Medium can be a super fun hobby that may pay you. I like getting paid for hobbies.
