Probably not the best analogy, but I think of consistency like keeping the hinges of an ancient door well-oiled. Lack of it is letting the rust build up. You can still open the door, but it takes a LOT more effort!

I started blogging because I read that it would help me develop a more consistent writing habit. It worked for a while. What added "rust" to my process was all the other stuff that goes into blogging--especially images. I'd rather write responses than my own articles because they don't need images or research. My profile shows over 1,300 responses and only about 150 articles.

I could work on consistency by writing five responses every day.
