The only reason I usually subscribe to emails is to get something they’re offering. I file them in a special email folder and keep them for a while thinking that I’ll read them eventually. I usually end up deleting them when I feel overwhelmed by all my unread emails.

Since I have no ambitions to earn more than $30 per month on Medium, I never bothered to create an email list. I back up all of my Medium stuff about once every 6 months though I don’t expect to ever need it.

If Medium ever completely disappeared, or banned me, I’d probably take it as a sign that it’s time to stop writing online. What I’d miss most is reading the awesome variety of content I’ve found here and the community.
