This sounds like great advice for a tournament player, someone rated at least 1000. I mostly play daily games on chess.com and my rating is under 400. I've always wondered at what rating level, it's even useful to try to analyze a game. When you're new, you don't have the knowledge to do anything without an engine--and the typical engines are often useless even for 1000 + level players.
My rating in other time controls would probably be between 400-500 if I played them enough to get an accurate rating. After getting my tax refund, I plan to invest in DecodeChess. Unlike other engines, it explains moves in human language. It also indicates key positions in a game. I look forward to trying it out with some of the daily games I've played with my nephew. I'll even try using it while I play a game with one of the chess.com bots. It won't care if I cheat! lol
