"We don’t make the right decisions by thinking logically, we just try to find arguments for decisions we already made based on our gut feeling."
This is what we all do, but we don't want to admit it to ourselves. We want to appear so much smarter than that, not just to others, but also to ourselves. We have to decide so many things every day, deciding by intuition is the only way to go. The trick is to be as aware as possible of what we feed our souls. Becoming aware of our conscious biases is difficult. It may be impossible. The Bible says that "the heart is deceitful above all things", meaning that we are prone to deceiving ourselves.
I make quick decisions almost all the time, trusting my intuition to guide me. Few results are earth shattering, and I can always learn from my experience to make a better choice next time. Since I'm retired, every day is a weekend. Even before then, I made time to do things I enjoyed in the evening. This usually meant I went to bed far too late.
