We fail to see our value, simply because of our existence. God created us, so He definitely sees value in us. He saw it before we were conceived, much less before we did anything.

We only value ourselves based on what we do. For the first four decades of my life, I considered myself only as good as what I accomplished. So many of us have wounded souls. We got the message that we were inferior and insignificant.

The only way to relieve the pain of this was to "prove" we were worth our space on this planet by "doing" stuff. It doesn't matter what that stuff is. The more we do the better. So, if there's a way to measure it, we have concrete evidence that we have worth. Pursuing this evidence by tracking everything that is trackable can become an obsession.
