When I joined Medium a couple of weeks ago, I didn’t even know it was possible to earn anything. What appealed to me was the potential number of readers or scanners compared to the number who might see my blog.

We write because we want to reach people. I’m horrible at marketing, like most of us I guess. I want to put my writing in front of more eyes. If I earn enough in a year to pay for my Medium subscription, I’ll be delighted. When I check my earnings at the end of September (2020), my first month, I’ll be amazed if there’s anything there at all. The same will be true for October and November. Writing is a hobby for me, not a business. I want to keep it that way.
