Will You Delete Privacy Plundering Accounts?
The article’s title refers to ten apps, but the author only listed nine. Of those, he mentions, there are a few I’ve never heard of (DoorDash, Tinder and Airbnb). He mentioned TikTok and Wish, which I’ve heard of but never bothered to try. I use Amazon on the website. I didn’t know there was an app for it. I created an account for Discord to engage with a Catholic group and some chess groups. I hadn’t used my PayPal account since using credit cards to shop online became possible. I closed it when they wanted to charge for inactive accounts.
Your data is important — to you but also to corporations. Apps may sell your data and build profiles about you. How do you fight back and reclaim your privacy? You need to delete apps that vacuum up your personal information.
Everything in life has costs and benefits. The benefits of each app don’t need to be outlined for those familiar with them. The cost of privacy varies in degree, but you can’t enjoy the apps without paying the price. The same goes for the rest of your online life. The more privacy you want to retain, the more complicated it gets to use the internet.
